who we are
European Metal Packaging, Empac, is an organisation bringing together producers of rigid metal packaging and their national associations to defend the interests and promote the benefits of metal packaging throughout Europe. From food cans to aerosols, baby food cans to beer kegs and paint cans to twist off closures, some 200 plants and over 50,000 people produce around 70 billion units each year - which represents up to one fifth of Europe's packaging industry by turnover.
what we do
Empac is tasked with defending and promoting the rigid metal packaging industry in Europe by communicating on the sustainability and the many unique advantages of metal packaging. Empac provides information and support to its members and regulatory bodies in the European Union. Empac also disseminates best manufacturing practice and guidelines through technical committees comprising acknowledged experts in their field. Through the inclusion of European Works Councils in the Empac Social Taskforce we are able to cover Environmental, Economic and Social issues in an inclusive manner.
why we exist
Empac exists due to the ever increasing complexity of national and European regulations impacting upon our industry directly or indirectly. The organisation provides a unified voice for our industry throughout Europe, presenting views and recommendations on current and future Environmental, Economic and Social questions affecting the industry. This is intended to support policy makers and other stakeholders in taking balanced and objective positions impacting upon our sector and ensure our views are fully represented.
